Genres don't define success, content does: Telugu producer Dil Raju

Genres don't define success, content does: Telugu producer Dil RajuTelugu producer Dil Raju believes that it is not the genre, but the content of a film that decides its fate at the box office.
'Films succeed because of content, and not particularly because of some genre they belong to.We have seen films even with superstars failing at the box-office because of poor content, and on the other hand,we have had successful films with unfamiliar faces thanks to rich content'Raju told IANS.
'Even though I have made several commercial films over the years, I have always given top priority to content and I will continue to do so,'he added.

Raju recently produced the highly successful Telugu family-drama 'Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu'(SVSC)and says the film worked only because of its content.
'While the presence of the star actors (Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh) certainly attracted audience to the cinema, I strongly believe the film clicked because of the content. The audience could relate to the characters on screen and thus instantaneously liked the film,' he said.
In his decade-long career, the producer has delivered several successful Telugu films such as 'Arya','Bommarillu','Kotha Bangaru Lokam' and 'Brindavanam'.
Raju's upcoming project is Telugu action-drama 'Yevadu' with Ram Charan Teja. He has also roped in director Vasu Varma of 'Josh' fame to direct the romantic-drama 'Lover',set to go on floors soon.

I Am Being Made a Scape Goat- Dr Bharathi - Exclusive

jayammana maga movie image
Bharathi, Vijay
Dr. Bharathy who is the heroine of Duniya Vijay in his home production film "Jayammana Maga' directed by Ravi Kiran has been in news for all wrong reasons from the past two days. The actress who chose the profession on her own desire did not anticipate that false allegations may stick to her even if she is part of any controversy.
bharathi, vijay
About the allegations linking Dr. Bharathi  to actor Vijay,  the young actress who is taking up post graduation in gynecology says that she treated Duniya Vijay as just a co-star and nothing more than that.  "Frankly I had more interaction with the director than Vijay who was also the producer of the film. In some occasions Vijay seemed to be too much worried thinking about the falling health of his mother.  At that time he used to show some reports and I used to advise him about the findings of the report and medicines prescribed for his mother.  This was strictly a professional duty I made as I have already completed medicine. But other than this I had no occasion to talk to him except while shooting was taking place.  But now I find my name is being floated by some vested interests albeit in lower voices. I always wanted to keep low profile and even did not attend the press meets of my two films.  I was dragged from my house to be present in the audio release function of Krishna son of C.M.  I always wanted to keep low profile. Even my neighbors did not know that I was acting in two Kannada films and my relatives expressed their surprise when some photos of mine appeared in news papers' says Dr. Bharathi in a chat with Chitraloka.
vijay, bharathi
Dr. Bharathi says that such attitude of keeping a low profile had helped her in film shootings where she was able to focus on her role. "These allegations have not been taken seriously by me or my parents.  That is because my parents know about me and are sure that I can never betray their trust' says Dr. Bharathi.
Dr. Bharathi is now focusing on her higher studies and will be looking forward for the release of two films.

'David' Tamil Music Review: The soundtrack boasts of trendsetting music

Music Directors: Dub Sharma, Bramfatura, Anirudh Ravichander, Maatibaani, Modern Mafia, Remo Fernandes and Prashant Pillai
Singers: Siddharth Basrur, Remo Fernandes, Vikram, Anirudh Ravichander, Karthik, Prashant Pillai, Naresh Iyer, Shweta Pandit, Joyshanti, Nirali Kartik and Sanjeev Thomas
Lyricists: Mohanrajan, Remo Fernandes, Yugabharati, Joyshanti and V. Elango
Rating: 3.5 out of 5
The soundtrack of 'David' has an ensemble music composed by Dub Sharma, Bramfatura, Anirudh Ravichander, Maatibaani, Modern Mafia, Remo Fernandes and Prashant Pillai. It has nine tracks featuring the voices of Siddharth Basrur, Remo Fernandes, Vikram, Anirudh Ravichander, Karthik, Prashant Pillai, Naresh Iyer, Shweta Pandit, Joyshanti, Nirali Kartik and Sanjeev Thomas.
One thing common between any A.R. Rahman's soundtrack and this album is that it takes time for the listener to understand and appreciate the music. It's very unlikely that one may like it instantly.
'Vaazhkaiye' by Sidharth Basrur is backed by high octane electronic tunes by Bramfatura. Its universal sound may not appeal to the masses, but probably will impress a larger section of the audience. Without deviating from the vocals, the duo has given a healthy mix of music.
Remo Fernandes and Vikram set the mood for a perfect beach house with the Goan number 'Maria Pitache'. Originating from Daman islands, the folk tune has a variety of instruments arranged and played by Remo. They have not only made the track very enjoyable, but also peppy.
Anirudh's soulful vocals breathe life into 'Kanave Kanave', which is the pick of the album. In his signature style, Anirudh elevates the number thanks to the emotional strings attached. Even though the melody is simple, yet it takes different shapes throughout the song painting a very gloomy picture. Despite its depressing tone, the track has the ability to instantly connect with the listener.
'Manamay' in the voice of Karthik and Prashant Pillai is a number high on energy. The opening guitar prelude very nicely paves the way for Karthik's vocals amidst drums and heavy thumping beats. Prashant's voice help the song to pick up right momentum from the beginning. Composed by Prashant, the song may not be the best track, but isn't bad either.
Naresh Iyer and Shweta Pandit present memorable duet 'Iravinil Ulavavaa', composed by Prashant Pillai. The slow setting of the song is cheerful and demands attention as it presents delicate moments of chorus. Naresh and Shweta elevate the song with their pitch perfect vocals.
'Theerathu Poga Vaanam' by Joyshanti and Nirali Kartik is a number that will lift you off your seat. The concoction between French utterances and Carnatic vocals makes for a compelling listen, while the heavy percussion alongside the guitar makes the song alluring, allowing the different musical patterns to get neatly encompassed in this composition.
'Machi', composed by Modern Mafia, is probably the first Tamil song in the punk rock genre. It's definitely not one of those songs with which you can fall in love with, but with extreme liking towards this genre, the track will make you go high. Mohanrajan has not only written a highly energetic lyrics, but has also packed it with some humorous lines.
Remo's composition 'Light House Symphony' is a testimony to the musician's potential. He marries the sounds of several instruments, whistling and vocals to build this wonderful beach tune. The playful tune of the song is backed by salsa and samba beats. This may probably become the next best beach number.
'Maname' (dubstep version) by Karthik is cheeky remix of the original. Dubstep is fast becoming a fad across music lovers because of it's one of its kind composition involving sequencer, turntable and sampler.

Rudrama Devi: Couldn't think of anyone but Anushka for the lead, says director

Telugu filmmaker Gunasekhar says he couldn't think of anyone else but Anushka Shetty for the title role in his upcoming period-drama 'Rudrama Devi'.
"I couldn't think of anyone else but Anushka for the role. I told myself that I would wait until I get to cast her, but fortunately she agreed instantly when I approached her. If it was not for her, this project wouldn't have started," Gunasekhar told IANS.
In the film, Anushka will reprise the role of princess Rudrama Devi, a prominent ruler of the Kakatiya dynasty.
"The reason I didn't want to cast someone else because the audience already accepted Anushka in a period role, and the response she received following her stellar performance in 'Arundhati', persuaded me to cast her," he said.
The film, produced and directed by Gunasekhar, has art direction by Thota Tharani and music by Illayaraja.
Gunasekhar and the rest of the crew recently travelled to Germany for a trial shoot; the filmmaker plans to rope in German technicians for the film, which will go on floors in February.
"It is a very prestigious project and I wanted to get everything right before I start shooting. We have roped in international technicians who would help us with the Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) work to bring back the long forgotten era on screen to perfection," said Gunasekhar.
Fashion designer Neeta Lulla has been roped in to design the costumes, while Sreekar Prasad will handle the editing.

Kamal revises release plans, but says DTH future of cinema

Kamal revises release plans, but says DTH future of cinema Haasan had decided to premiere his Tamil film "Vishwaroopam", its dubbed Telugu version and the Hindi "Vishwaroop" on DTH a day before the scheduled theatrical release. But distributors were unhappy with the move and Kamal had to shelve that plan.
"The Hindi version is being released on Feb 1. It cannot be released on Jan 25 along with the Tamil and Telugu versions because 'Race 2' is releasing the same day," the actor-director-producer said on the new revised release plans.
The film stars Shekhar Kapur, Rahul Bose and Kamal who has also directed the film.
But he is as confident of the DTH premiere strategy as he was before he was compelled to bow down.
"Look at the success through the DTH of the new Richard Gere film 'Arbitrage'. It has collected double its theatre collections on DTH. DTH is the future of cinema. The postponement of my film's release gave me an opportunity to convince my film fraternity of the feasibility of DTH.
"Unfortunately, the advance bookings had already opened when we postponed. We had to say sorry to the disappointed patrons. But I have to tell you, the advance bookings were unprecedented. No one refrained from going to the theatres because of the DTH. The panic regarding DTH is prevalent all over the world."
As far as the DTH telecast is concerned, Kamal said: "The south Indian distributors and exhibitors have requested a four-day headstart for the theatrical release. I made it easier for them. The DTH telecast would now be on Saturday, February 2 following the theatrical release on Friday Jan 25."

Raghava Loki has proved beyond doubt that his films has to be taken seriously by fans and critics as well.  He has done only three films in five years, but certainly he has proved his mettle by being a director  who makes films in different genres.  His latest film "Lakshmi' starring Shivaraj Kumar and Priyamani and other well known stars is stylishly made with extraordinary picturisaiton of action and song sequences. The first twenty five minutes of the film moves with rapid pace and many interesting sequences unfold in regular intervals.  But some how the film which maintains a very good tempo in the first half, loses the track when Rangayana Raghu's character appears on screen.  But Raghava Loki comes for form again in the last twenty minutes of the film which is marked by rich production values and stylish film making.  Ragjhava Loki proves that he can make a spy film with a little bit of sentiment and patriotism elements thrown in. The absence of comedy in second half also makes the proceedings a little boring. If the film is edited by fifteen minutes, then the film will be more engaging and audience may like it better.   The sudden twists in the film will keep you in the edge of seats, but suddenly the drab sequences will follow.
Guru Kiran scores more in background music than in composition of songs though Kam Kam Kamanna, Neenene Neenene, Naanu Beedit Sedhkond are well pictursied. The dialogues are another strong point of the film and century star's dialogues is sure to still patriotic feelings among the audience.  .....
Raghava Loki is stronger in his Visual presentation.  Lakshmi proves this fact again and again.   Shivaraj Kumar and Priyamani score major points in their performance.  Shivanna's all round performance will be a feast for fans.
Watch Lakshmi for a  wonderful performance of  Shivanna and Priyamani and also pacy narration by Raghava Loki.  You will not be disappointed watching this film. Certainly you will come back happily from theatre
