Mohanlal also to try his luck in Script writing

Great news for all the Mohanlal fans out there. It is reported that Mohanlal turns scenarist. He is writing the script for an upcoming project which will be directed by one his friends.

Whether Mohanlal will act in this movie is not revealed. It is also heard that the script is based on medical science and hospitals. 

Major Ravi's 'Karmayodha' is the Christmas release for Mohanlal. 'Lokpal' directed by Joshi is expected to hit the theatres in January next year. 'Red Wine', Siddique's 'Ladies and Gentleman', films by Priyadarshan and Satyan Anthikad are the major releases for Mohanlal in the coming year.

Huge openings for SVSC in overseas

Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu multistarrer Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu has hit the big-screens on a grand scale and the film opened to stunning collections on day 1 on overseas.

SVSC has earned a huge collection of $200,000 just from the premieres and the film might garner much bigger figure of $1 million mark in 5 days. Mahesh Babu enjoys a huge fan base in overseas market and his Dookudu, Businessman have done a ver good business.

Story

SVSC story revolves around a village Relangi and a middle class family in the place headed by Prakash Raj called Relangi Mavayya, who is the most respectable person. He gives importance to human values and family relations than wealth and his two sons Peddodu (Venkatesh) is a straight forward natured emotional yet responsible person who doesn’t like to bow down among others while Chinnodu (Mahesh Babu) is charming, intelligent and attracts people with his witty nature falls for Geetha (Samantha), daughter of rich person (Rao Ramesh). Seetha (Anjali) an innocent girl lost her parents who have been raised by her Uncle Relangi Mavayya. She has feelings for Peddodu since her childhood. Story takes a twist that leads to dispute and parting ways between brothers at their sister's (Abhinaya) marriage. How does the family deal with the situations forms the crux.

Performances

Venkatesh brings in lot of dignity to his role of a straight forwarded nature guy who has good love and affection towards his younger brother. Venkatesh does an emotional character that makes you completely accept him.

Mahesh Babu is natural, charming as always and he has an amazing screen presence. The Super Star is entertaining with his one-liners in Godavari slang and his comictiming is worth mentioning. His scenes with Venkatesh are a visual treat to watch.

Anjali steals the show as an innocent Seetha role. She has a good screen presence, despite not having many dialogues she impresses with her expressions.

Samantha is gorgeously cute and her chemistry with Mahesh once again rocks. The duo looked very cute in the film.

Prakash Raj has a meaty role and he is natural along with Jayasudha. Rao Ramesh is impressive, Ahuthi Prasad, Rama Prabha, Ravi Babu are entertaining.

Technical Analysis

Guhan’s cinematography is on top class and the visuals looked colorful and rich through out. The songs composed by Mickey J Meyer are lavishly shot while his songs are pleasant and soulful to ears. Background score by Mani Sharma is an asset. Dialogues are entertaining and editing is neat. Srikanth Addala scores good points for handling two top stars characters quite well, while his direction and story telling is decent.

Analysis:

The makers of SVSC have made it possible of bringing two top stars Venkatesh and Mahesh Babu together and Srikanth Addala managed to show very good chemistry between the lead stars. Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu works for its perfect casting. Despite the wafer-thin line story, excellent performances by the entire cast are the major asset. Mahesh Babu has pulled off the role with ease and his comic timing is amazing. Srikanth Addala has succeeded in showing the beautiful bond between the bothers and emotions and relationships in a family. The narration goes in a cool manner with no major twists or twirls in the story but the film is realistic and convincing without any cinematic drama. The ambiance in joint families and healthy relationships is naturally shown through the main character Prakash Raj that will definitely connect well with the family audiences. While the first half movies at a good pace, it’s the second half that gets a bit slow. The characters are introduced in the first half and the story begins only in the second half but there are feel good heart touching moments all through the SVSC. We get to watch top stars sharing the screen space very rarely and Srikanth Addala utilizez the opportunity in making it a feel-good drama.

Final Verdict

A captivating feel-good entertainer on relations and bonding!!!

Arya's Settai music launch on January 30

Arya’s Settai audio launch is planned to be held on January 30 on grand scale. Settai, the remake of Hindi film Delhi Belly is taking shape in the hands of director Kannan while UTV Motion Pictures is producing the film. Thaman is composing the musical scores for the film.

Dhananjayan informed the news on twitter, “We will be screening 3 songs and a new trailer during the audio launch event on 30th January. Plus an entertainment event is being planned.

“Just seen the final edited song of Nee Thaandi Osathi Ponna picturised on Premgi and it rocks,” he further tweeted. Settai casts Arya, Santhanam, Premji, Hansika and Anjali in the lead roles.

It's a girl baby for actor Karthi

Tamil actor Karthi is on cloud nine after he became a proud father of a girl. His wife Ranjini gave birth to their daughter in Apollo Hospital here Friday.

"Karthi has two reasons to be happy today - while his Tamil film 'Alex Pandian' released today worldwide to overwhelming response, he has also become a father of a baby girl. Both the mother and baby are fine," read a statement.

"The baby was born around 3 p.m. in Apollo hospital here," the statement added.

Karthi tied the knot with Ranjini July 3, 2011 in Coimbatore. He got married while he was shooting for "Saguni".

"Alex Pandian" is directed by Suraaj and features Karthi in the lead alongside Anushka Shetty and Santhanam.

Sanjjana who is also a brand ambassador for the Tollywood Cricket team in CCL has always been seen encouraging the good performances from Karnataka Bulldozers team.
Sanjjana  who spends a lot of time shutting between Bangalore and Hyderabad has  been quite excited as her ambititious film "Mahanadhi' is now ready for release.  Sanjjana is reported to have delivered a strong performance in the film.

While Kollywood saw nearly half a dozen Pongal releases, all eyes were on Alex Pandian, which was promoted in a big way

A lot was riding on the film as its hero, Karthi Sivakumar, was looking for a change of fortune after the poor show of his previous release, Saguni. Of late, Karthi is being projected as a mass hero and the director of Alex Pandian, Suraj, has taken pains to bolster that image. Karthi is clearly happy to go along.

Karthi and Santhanam form a pretty good team, having already made a mark in Siruthai and Saguni. InAlex Pandian too, the duo dominate the first half and Santhanam, especially packs a punch with his witty dialogues. Anushka Shetty looks her glamorous best and does her bit in the action scenes too.

The director who makes no bones about focusing on action-entertainers, sticks to the same formula and comes up with another formulaic offering. The story isn’t novel or surprising. It is about a convict, who kidnaps the Chief Minister’s daughter for cash. Later, he falls for her and resolves to rescue her from a group that is out to unleash havoc in the State and has diabolical plans. There are a multitude of villains and the film ends with a battle between the protagonist and the baddies. Interestingly, there are as many as eight villains to add to the action quotient.

Devi Sri Prasad’s music has its usual feel and he has come up with some fast-paced numbers similar to those in Singam. Despite the positives, there are flaws that tend to weigh down Alex Pandian. If only Suraj had worked to craft a more interesting tale!

If the movie was an attempt to boost Karthi’s image, it succeeds, but it falls flat on many other counts.

Kolaveri Di fame sings Telugu song

Kolaveri Di fame music director Anirudh and Tamil actor Simbu sang a song for a Telugu film. The film isBack Bench Student and stars Mahat Raghavendra, Piaa Bajpai and Archana Kavi. Sunil Kashyap has scored the music  for this film. It is not known how Sunil Kashyap and Madhura Sridhar have managed to rope in Tamil star Simbu and Aniridhu to sing a song for this film. Both of them sang two songs in the film although they don't have any connection with the movie. Madhura Sridhar said that this title song sung by Anirudh will be the highlight of the film. The song is currently being filmed.

Bombay Jayashree nominated for Oscars

Bombay Jayashree has been nominated to the Oscars. The song for which she has been nominated toPi's Lullaby from the film the Life of Pi. The melodious ballad has been effortlessly rendered by Bombay Jayashree. 

When the soundtrack of Ang Lee's film "Life of Pi" was first released, the track that became popular was Pi's Lullaby. Life of Pi directed by Ang Lee is a 2012 American adventure drama film based on Yann Martel's 2001 novel of the same name.

Exclusive: Naga Chaitanya in Hello Brother remake

Naga Chaitanya has been confirmed to play the role essayed by his father Nagarjuna in the remake of 1994 blockbuster film Hello Brother. Sources tell us that this remake film has also been titled as Hello Brother.

Hello Brother directed by EVV Satyanarayana was a mass entertainer film filled with some great comedy dialogues and a big hit in Nagarjuna's career. Nag played dual roles in the film. His leading ladies were Soundarya and Ramya Krishna. 

The makers of the remake are planning to rope Samantha and Tamannah for this film. Srinivas Reddy ofDamarukam fame will be directing this film. Kamakshi movies will be producing the remake whose shoot will commence shortly.

Duniya Vijay signs a Trilingual Movie

Actor Duniya Vijay has signed a trilingual film which will be made in Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam.  The film which has a budget of Rs. 20 crores is produced by Kamarajan and directed by Nagarajan. Nagarajan had earlier directed films like "Aravindan' and "Vande Maatharam'. This informaiton was revealed in a press meet  by the makers of the film in presence  of  Duniya Vijay and well known lyricist and director Nagendra Prasad. Suitable title which may be applicable for all the three languages is being scouted.
"It is basically an action film with the underworld back drop.  Half of the film will be shot in Italy. We are shooting the remaining portions in Bengaluru, Mysore, Madikeri, Chennai, Cochin Port and Tuticorin Port. We have already selected Sharath Kumar to play an important role in the film and is zeroing on another Tamil hero for the project. The film will be launched during the month of February'- producer Kamarajan disclosed to media men.  
Director Nagarajan said that when he briefed his friend Kamarajan about the script he had Duniya Vijay in his mind to play the lead role. It was then suggested by Kamarajan that the film has to be made in many languages to make the project viable. He said the artists and technicians of the film will be chosen shortly. Sudeep Starts Dubbing of Bachchan

Kiccha Sudeep who had gone to Hyderabad to attend a CCL meet has come back to Bengaluru.  He will now finish dubbing work for the film "Bachchan' directed by Shashank and produced by Uday Mehta.  The song picturisations would also start from January 22 for which discussions are being held about the locaiton.  The song will be picturised on Kiccha and Tulip Joshi, who is playing one of the three heroines in the film which includes  Bhavana and Parul Yadav.
Dance choreographer Imran who has been working for Kiccha for the first time seems to have liked the song composition and lyrics of  Hari Krishna and Yogaraj Bhat combination  He had suggested the song to be shot in Dubai, but producer Uday Mehta  has already started working on the sets designed by Arun Prasad.  A final decision is to be taken on Monday.  Since Kiccha wants to do some serious practice from the end of the month,  the decision of shooting another song of Kiccha and Bhavana has been postponed to March.
Director Shashank .has completed the editing work of the film and the trimming will be done after Kiccha completes the dubbing.

Darshan Joins The CCL Practice

Challenging Star Darshan has joined the Cricket Practice of  Karnataka Bull Dozers team captained by his friend  Kiccha. The practice sessions are being held in Sapota Garden. Darshan joined the practice after he completed the shooting schedule of his film "Bul Bul' to cheer up players like Chiranjeevi Sarja, Praveen,Rajeev, Bhaskar, Tarun, Tarun Sudhir and others.
The inaugural match of  CCL 3 edition will start in Kochi. The match will be between hosts  Kerala Strikers who will take on Mumbai Heroes at Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium on 9th February 2013. Karnataka Bull Dozers team will play with Champions Chennai Rhinos for their first match.

Lakshmi Solo Release on 18th Jan

Discussion around the table by the concerned parties in an atmosphere of  give and take and good intention to maintain a cordial relationship has now helped the resolution of a problem related to release of two big budget starrers "Lakshmi' and "Varadanayaka'.  Now, the  status of release of these two films is that "Lakshmi' is getting released on 18th January in Kapali and other theatres in Karnataka and Varadanaayaka will not release on the 25th January.
 Though the bigwigs of the industry were also concerned about the competition, they did not venuture out to solve the problem as it surfaced.  Even Kannada film producers association was not directly involved in the negotiations.  The initial discussion held between Basha, the distributor of  Lakshmi  and Jayanna and Bhogeendra the distributors of  Varadanayaka was extended to include a larger panel with Shankare Gowda and Lakshmi director Raghava Loki also joining the discussion.  Later Basha and Jayanna personally spoke to  Kiccha Sudeep (who is also the producer partner of  Varadanaayaka)  to thrash out a solution.
Earlier this week, Shankare Gowda had told Chitraloka that since Lakshmi got censored in the last week of December, they had though the film to be released on 4th January as was announced earlier.  'That is the reason we had planned to release the film on 18th January.  But there was a big rush of films to be censored before December 31 and even Janunary first week.  The censor officer had gone to Mumbai for official work which delayed the censor.  But we are ready for release the film on January 18' Shankare Gowda said. .
But the secret confabulations have paid off and now both the star studded  films are getting released on January 18 and 25th respectively The development once again shows that  it is better to sink the differences and start negotiations to thrust out solution to the problems for the benefit of the industry.
Both Basha and Jayanna however refuse to reveal the contents of discussions regarding the matter.  Varadanaayaka is releasing in Triveni on 25th Jan.

Sudeep steps into the shoes of Salman Khan in Bigg Boss Kannada

Kiccha Sudeep had earlier hosted Kannada reality show Pyate Hudgir Halli Life and it was well-received by the audience. Now, the actor seems to be ready to return to small screen again. Yes, the Eega star will be reportedly anchoring the Kannada version of Hindi reality show Bigg Boss, which is currently hosted by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. There are wide-spread buzz that Sudeep has been approached by the channel and he has given a green signal for the show. The organisers are still unsure whether the show will be made in one language or two languages, as Kiccha is now popular in Andhra Pradesh too. However, the official confirmation is awaited and Sudeep is yet to open up on it. Meanwhile, Sudeep is reportedly getting a huge remuneration to host the show. Like Salman Khan, Kiccha is being paid a huge amount per show and it could increase based on the TRPs. If reports are to be believed, ETV Kannada, which is one of the popular channels, will be airing the Kannada version of Bigg Boss. Soon, Sudeep will be meeting Salman Khan and learn the nuances of the show.

He has already being started in a role of 'Immanuel' the new movie from hit maker Laljose. The movie will also present a fresh face named Reenu Mathews, donning the female lead.
'Immanuel' will have Mammootty as a family man who is finding it hard to live his life in a busy metro. A former Chavittunatakam artist, 'Immanuel' is a graduate in Malayalam working as the close aide of the publisher and printer Joseph.

Review - Bavuttiyude Namathil

Mammootty's Bavuttiyude Namathil, directed by Ranjith, has finally arrived. The film also stars Kavya Madhavan, Rima and Anoop Menon in lead roles. Interestingly, this film marks the fourth film in which Ranjith and Mammootty are teaming up. The film which was earlier titled as Malabar, will witness Mammootty in a simple avatar.

Orphaned at a very young age, Bavutty (Mammootty) works as a driver  at the bungalow of a rich couple Sethu (Sankar Ramakrishnan) and Vanaja (Kavya). Shooting home videos is one of Bavutty's favourite hobbies... On the other side Sethu is a money minded person and cannot think of anything else in life while his wife Vanaja is a soft-spoken simple woman. Then comes the twist, Bavutty is the secret keeper of the couple. Satheeshan (Vineeth) is Vanaja's ex-lover and arrives in town when Sethu is away but things go out-of-hand. Bavuttiyude Namathil is a feel-good flick, Mammootty has given a brilliant performance so is Kavya. Shankar Ramakrishnan fits the bills perfectly while Vineeth shocks with his villainous act.
