'Kammath and Kammath': The 'Dosa' song from the Malayalam film is out

The first song of the movie 'Kammath and Kammath' is out with good responses. The song titled 'Dosa song' featuring Mammotty and Dileep has been released on the net.

A funny song with lighter lyrics, the visuals feature both the stars serving dosa and dancing in a hotel.The film is scheduled to be released on January 25, 2013.

The movie features Mammootty and Dileep in the lead roles with Karthika Nair, Rima Kallingal and Narain in supporting roles. Tamil film actor Dhanush has a cameo role in the film as himself.

Kammath & Kammath is a Malayalam action comedy film project, based on the story written by Udayakrishna-Siby K Thomas, directed by Thomson K Thomas and produced by Anto Joseph.

Malayalam actor Mohanlal to star in B Unnikrishnan's 'Mr Fraud'

B Unnikrishnan is now all set to work with Mohanlal again in his next film titled 'Mr Fraud'. After back to back success of two films 'Madambi' and 'Grandmaster' with the actor, Unnikrishnan has finished scripting for the film.

A big budget film produced by A V Anoop. B Unnikrishnan has almost finished the storyline and is currently into giving a varied treatment to the film. The central character has a grey shade in the film.

The director is planning to pack a lot of surprises in the movie which will be a big entertainer. As of now 'Mr Fraud' will be on sets by the month of May.

Remember B-grade actress Shakeela? She'll now direct clean movies

Shakeela, who was the star of B-grade super hit Malayalam films, is back but says that she is here to direct and not to act in movies. She also clarified that her directorial venture would be a clean movie.

In 1990s and early 2000, she was hugely popular among movie buffs for her sensuous roles in many blockbusters.

Talking about her directorial venture 'Neelakurinji', Shakeela clarified, "Please don't expect the film that I am going to direct same as the films that I acted in. This is about pain of a woman and it is not a glamorous film either."

She was here to participate in the 'muhurat' of her directorial debut 'Neelakurinji'. The title is inspired by the flower neelakurinji that blooms once in 12 years.

"My film would be one which could be seen by all," Shakeela, 40, told reporters.

She acted in more than 50 films in all southern languages and filled the gap left by Silk Smitha for a few years. 'Kinnarathumbikal' was one of her all-time hits.

She hopes to rope in her favourite actor Dileep to do a guest appearance in her directorial debut.

Malayalam actor Suresh Gopi is unwell after movie 'I'

Suresh Gopi is playing a doctor in the movie 'I' directed by Shankar.'I' which has Vikram and Amy Jackson in the lead roles. 'I' is another musical of AR Rahman. However, it seems like the doctor in the film got sick in real life.

At a recent event which celebrated Vivekanandha's 150th birthday anniversary, Suresh Gopi spoke in an unusually low voice and did not sing with Remya Nambeesan as per plan.

When asked why he said, "We had to shoot at a factory in Chennai that was closed for about 20 years, and the place was too dusty. And, to add to that, the large crew almost kicked up a dust storm. I am playing a doctor in the film and that's all I can reveal as per director Shankar's instructions. I can also tell you that I won't be doing any action scenes in the movie and my schedules are in Chennai, so no foreign trips for me.The song that I was supposed to sing at the event had several high notes and I could not stress my throat too much."

'I' is to be released by mid 2013 and we hope Suresh Gopi gets back in form and healthy soon!

Malayalam actor Mammootty to work in director Ranjith's 'Leela'

Malayalam actor Mammootty will work once agin with director Ranjith for the upcoming film 'Leela'. They have earlier produced many acclaimed and super hit films like 'Kayyoppu', 'Pranjiyettan and the Saint'.

'Leela' is based on the famous short story by R Unni of the same title. The heroine is not confirmed yet. Earlier Shankar Ramakishnan and Ann Augustine were supposed to do the lead roles in the movie, but, now the shooting of the film has been postponed till April.

The movie is written by the director Ranjith, music section will be handled by Shyama Prasad.

Dileep with another song in Sound Thoma

Dileep has proved himself as a singer in the poular film Thilakkam. And now, its time for him to try his luck in the new film Sound Thoma.

Recently many of our actors have proved themselves to be fine play back singers also. Last year lead stars like Mohanlal, Ramya Nambeeshan and even Mammootty lend their voices to songs that remained popular with the masses. 

And now it seems to be the turn of Dileep, who will try his sound for his new character in the movie 'Sound Thoma'. This time, his character has a cleft lip and speaks in a peculiar way, which will be followed up in the songs too. 'Sound Thoma' is the coming together of hit maker Vysakh with Dileep for the first time, after his three debut back to back hits in 'Pokkiriraja', Seniors and Mallu Singh'.

With a pointed nose and a cleft lip, Dileep will be hoping for another big hit like all his previous ventures which had his makeover characters emerging popular.

Akansha to pair with with Unni Mukundan

Malayalam actress Akansha, also known as Aashy, to star opposite to Unni Mukundan in "Samrajyam 2 - Son of Alexander".The sequel will be released in Tamil and Malayalam versions.

The bilingual film will be directed by Pezharassu. It is the sequel of 1990 movie "Samrajyam", which featured Mammootty. Meanwhile, the actress has also signed a movie with Allu Arjun, which will be directed by Puri Jag

Vijay Divorce Case - Industry Personalities Want Ambi Initiative

The meeting of  Duniya Vijay and his family members separately on Sunday with Rebel Star Ambareesh has just given some hopes to  indusry personaoties that some forward movement may be expected in a few days. Ambi wished Duniya Vijay on his birthday, but did not have any discussions regarding the ongoing developments since he filed his divorce papers in family court on Thursday  However he is believed to have given assurance to Vijay's wife and children that he will do something to bring in some solution to the problem.
However Ambareesh has himself been cautious in his interview with the media after Vijay left his residence. "Let me call both of them in three to four days to resolve this issue. I have to start confabulations with my friends in the industry' said Ambareesh.
However Munirathna, President of the Kannada film producers association and producer K.Manju seems to be confident that a solution will be found out shortly to circumvent any legal problems  Many more industrial personalties want the Ambi initiative to succeed.

Bajarangi Launch On Feb. 20th

Choreographer turned film director Harsha's film 'Bajarangi' with Shivaraj Kumar in the lead will be launched on February 20. The Century Star is now on the regimen of building up six pack abs.
Harsha has prepared a different type of script to suit who is believed to have two heroines in the film.  Though talks are on with Bhavana and Priyamani, the selection has not been finalised.
Three new villains are being introduced in this film, while Bullet Prakash is playing the lead role in the film.
The song recording of the film with start on February 13.  The producer is Nataraja Gowda and music director if Arjun Janya.  The producer wants a top heroine of South to be paired with Shivaraj Kumar.  That is one reason as to why artists for the heroine's role has not been finalised yet.
Shivanna in a chat with Chitraloka said that the six pack body was required as there is a sequence where he has to remove shirt.  He said Harsha has narrated a stylish entertainer and he liked the passion with which Harsha had made preparations.

Varadanayaka Online Booking Stars

Kiccha Sudeep and Chiranjeevi Sarja starrer "Varadanaayaka' produced by Shankare Gowda and directed by Aiyappa Sharma will be releasing on 25th January in Triveni and other centers all around Karnataka. Though the film is releasing after three days, the online bookings have started in Rockline Cinemas where there has been satisfactory booking requests.   The online bookings far other multiplex and single screen theatres may start on Wednesday and Thursday.
Meanwhile,  Bhogeendra who is releasing the film in BKT  and North Karnataka along with his partner Jayanna  says that the film may be released in 130 to 135 single screens and about fifteen multiplexes around Karnataka.
"We are restricting the number of screens as per the directions from Shankare Gowda who does not want to collect advances and allow release in maximum theatres.  He is confident of  a long run for his film.
Even in Northern Karnataka, there are some centers , where there are limited number of theatres, we are planning to release in the coming weeks.  We are planning to release in 15 to 18 centers in Northern Karnataka' says Bhogeendra in a chat with Chitraloka Mega Portal.
However the film's Mysore area distributor Suresh of Royal Films is going ahead with releasing the film in around 30 centers in his area to gain benefit of Holidays in th first three days and  increased craze for the film.
Suresh of Royal Films says that he  is looking forward for a big welcome to Varadanayaka mainly because it is  nearly an year since Kiccha Sudeep's film has been released and as he has understood from the studios reports the film will be a good commercial entertainer.
"I have seen lot of craze from the theatres to screen this film' says Suresh.
Similar is the case with Chitradurga-Davanagere-Bellary distribution area for which the distributors are believed to have paid a bond for acquiring rights.

Dhanush eager to do comedy

Tamil actor Dhanush is excited about doing comedy in his upcoming yet-to-be-tilted Tamil film with National Award winning director A. Sargunam.

"Starting Sargunam's film from Feburuary 2nd week. It will be an out-and-out commercial entertainer. Can't wait to do some comedy!" Dhanush tweeted.

In his decade-long career, 29-year-old attempted comedy in some sequences in Tamil films such as "Padikathavan", "Uthama Puthiran" and "Mappillai", but never did a full length comedy feature film.

The actor is currently busy shooting the final schedule of upcoming Hindi romantic-drama "Raanjhnaa" in Delhi and Benaras with Sonam Kapoor. It is coming out June 28.

His Tamil project in the offing is "Mariyaan".

'Vazhakku Enn 18/9' wins award at Paris fest

Tamil teen crime-thriller "Vazhakku En 18/9" won the best film award at the first South Asian Film Festival (SAFF) held in Paris recently.

The critically acclaimed film opened to a packed house at the event, held between Jan 16-20, and left the international audience spellbound. At the closing ceremony of the festival, it was officially awarded the best film award.

Directed by Balaji Sakthivel, it is the story of modern day youth, whose lives are shackled by sex, lies and crime. Made on a shoestring budget, the film starred newcomers such as Mithun Murali, Sri, Urmila Mahanta and Manisha Yadav.

It was also one of the Tamil films in the run for India's Oscar entry for best foreign language film.

The other Tamil film also screened at the SAFF was Karthik Subbaraj's horror-thriller "Pizza".

Other contenders in the best film category were Ajay Bahl's "BA Pass", Amit Ashraf's Bangladeshi film "Udhao", Gurvinder Singh's "Anhey Ghore Da Daan" and Nepali film "Loot" by Nischal Basnet .

Some other Indian films screened under a special category included films such as Onir's "My Brother Nikhil", A.R Murugadoss "7 am Arivu" and Abhinay Deo's "Delhi Belly".

Aimed at proving that South Asian cinema is not only about Bollywood, the SAFF screened movies from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Ajith’s dual role in Murugadoss film

Siddharth’s Udhayam first look unveiled

Siddharth’s next film Udhayam first look has been unveiled by the makers. Manimaran, former associate to director Vetrimaaran is wielding the megaphone for the film Udhayam, touted to be an action thriller.

Dhayanidhi Alagiri's new production company Meeka Entertainment along with Vetrimaaran's Grass Root Film Company is jointly producing the film. Velraj will crank the camera for the movie while GV Prakash will provide the musical scores. Vetrimaaran has penned the story and screenplay for Udhayam.

The film’s shooting is under brisk progress and it will be wrapped up very soon while the makers are planning to release it in the month of June.

Vishwaroopam set for big openings

 Haasan’s magnum opus Vishwaroopam set for a grand scale release on January 25 worldwide is set to garner big openings. The film is releasing in 400 plus screens and with a long holiday weekend of Milad-ul- Nabi and Republic Day, Vishwaroopam’s advance bookings are getting good response.

Meanwhile, Vishwaroopam DTH screening will be made on February 2 and makers are hoping to bag maximum collections in the first week of release. Vikram’s Karikalan to resume?

 historical period film Karikalan which has been shelved earlier will resume again soon. The film’s story is based on the life of a Chola King during Sangam Period with Vikram playing the role of king.

Karikalan has Zarine Khan and Anjali in leading lady roles. LI Kannan was supposed to direct the film initially but he was replaced by AR Gandhikrishna, the script writer. SS Vasan and S Parthiban of Silver Line Film Factory are producing the film and GV Prakash is the music director.

"The historical epic 'Karikalan' revives back from March with Chiyaan Vikram. Starting composing for Karikalan in a week. Already had finished 2 songs," tweeted GV Prakash.

Kadal in re-recording works

Ace director Mani Ratnam’s forthcoming release Kadal is gearing up for February 1 release and the makers are working round the clock on the post-production works. From few days, Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman are busy with re-recording works.

Kadal has wrapped up the censor formalities and the movie is set for a simultaneous release in Tamil and Telugu. Vijay to fight with Abhmanyu Singh

 Vijay’s next film in the direction of AL Vijay titled Thalaivaa is progressing at a brisk pace and now Abhimanyu Singh has been roped in for the negative role in the movie.

Vijay and Abhimanyu had earlier teamed up in the film Velayudham and the duo once again set to team in Thalaivaa. Abhimanyu has also got good recognition for his Gulaal and a Telugu film Gabbar Singh.

Amala Paul is playing the female lead in the movie that has cinematography by Nirav Shah and musical scores by GV Prakash. Sathyaraj and Nassar are doing prominent roles in this action entertainer.

First Look of Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja starrer Balupu will be launched on January 26 on the eve of the actor’s Birthday.

Young Tiger Jr.NTR is busy with the shooting schedules of his upcoming film Baadshah. The makers are currently canning a song shooting on NTR in the old city. Young Tiger will be seen in a quite stylish and distinct look in the movie.

VV Vinayak wish to direct Pawan Kalyan

VV Vinayak who had directed Tollywood top stars is currently enjoying the success of his latest Naayak. In the recent pressmeet of Naayak, VV Vinayak has informed that he is working on the good story for Mega Star Chiranjeevi’s 150^th movie.

The Star director also wished to work with Power Star Pawan Kalyan soon. “I directed all the mega heroes Chiranjeevi, Allu Arjun and Ram Charan, and I’m looking forward for an opportunity to work with Pawan Kalyan,” says VV Vinayak.

Quirky titles excite audience

Director-turned-producer Madan feels the title of a film is also an important part of promotion because usually quirky title attracts audience to the cinemas.

Some of the upcoming Telugu films with quirky titles include "D for Dopidi", "Athanu Hardware Aame Software" and "Chamak Challo".

In fact, Madan too has titled his upcoming Telugu movie as "Coffee With My Wife".

"Titles have become a very important part of a film's promotion nowadays. Quirky titles excite audience right from the day the name of a film is announced. That is why title has become very important because it helps in keeping the buzz around a film alive," Madan said.

Known for making Telugu films, he feels that if a film releases eight months after its announcement, "then buzz around the film is likely to die if it's not promoted at regular intervals. One of the ways to promote is by having a quirky title that would keep the audience bemused."

"Coffee With My Wife" stars Aneesh Tejeswar and Sindhu Loknath and Madan says that it is important that the title should have direct link to the story, or viewers will feel cheated.

"Our film does have a quirky title but at the same time does justice to the plot. You can't fool audience with a title that has no relation to the story of the film because eventually they have to pay and watch it," he said.

He also feels titles are like film teasers.

"Titles can be compared to the teasers of movies. As trailers motivate audience to come to the cinemas, titles too have an effect on the viewers but eventually it all boils down to the content," said Madan.

Sumanth looks forward for a negative role

Telugu actor Sumanth, known for films such as "Satyam", "Mahanadi" and "Godavari", wants to be a baddie on the big screen and says he's been eyeing a negative role for quite some time.

"The agenda is to play a powerful negative lead this year. A strong negative role is something I've always wanted to do for as long as I can remember," Sumanth tweeted.

The 37-year-old debuted with Telugu romantic-drama "Prema Katha", and since then has gone on to prove his mettle in films like "Madhumasam" and "Golconda High School".

His two Telugu films in the offing include crime-drama "Twist", in which he will share the screen space with Varun Sandesh, and a yet-to-be-titled film by director Siddhartha.

Nani’s voiceover for D For Dopidi

Actor Nani has lent his voice for an upcoming film D For Dopidi starring Varun Sandesh and Sundeep Kishan in the lead roles. Both the lead heroes of the film has informed the news also thanking Nani regarding this.

Sundeep Kishan tweeted, “Thank @NameisNani for taking the time out to give the voiceover for #DforDopidi,Owe you 1 buddy.”

Meanwhile Varun Sandesh also thanked the actor, “Its confirmed tht @Nameisnani is givin d voice over narration 4 D for Dopidi.. nice 2 have u in d team bro:-) n grt 2 kno u likd d trailer.”

D For Dopidi directed by Siraj is based on a bank robbery story with Melanie Kannokada as the female lead. The film is gearing up for a February release.

Mahesh to join Sukumar’s film shoot

Superstar Mahesh Babu, who has been enjoying the success of Seethamma Vaakilto Sirimalle Chettu as well as promoting it from sometime, will now join the sets of his film in Sukumar direction.

The film has earlier wrapped up a couple of schedules in Hyderabad and Goa and a fresh schedule has commenced in Hyderabad while Mahesh will join the unit members from 23^rd January.

The yet-to-be titled movie introduces a young model turned actress Kriti Sanon to Tollywood. Anil Sunkara, Gopichand and Ram Achanta, are producing the movie under 14 Reels Entertainment banner with Devi Sri Prasad composing the music.

Lawrence, Tapsee Muni 3 begins
